A Letter From Our Principal

A Letter From Our Principal
Posted on 05/10/2018
Decorative Dear FCMS Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the wonderful spring weather. Here at FCMS it is very difficult to believe our year is rapidly coming to an end. I feel like I just started yesterday. It really has been a wonderful year and I want to thank you for sharing your scholars with us. Our scholars have taken ownership of their building and have worked hard to make it a thriving institution of creativity and collaboration. As our year winds down, I want to share some end of year events with you. We will be administering our SOL assessments in the next couple weeks. Below is our test schedule. This is an opportunity for our scholars to demonstrate their hard work and show our community one of the many reasons FCMS is awesome.

May 29 - June 1

With the end of the school year comes great excitement as 6th graders become 7th graders, 7th graders become 8th graders, and we get to welcome a new group of scholars to Trojan Pride. It is also the time of year we celebrate our 8th graders moving on to James Wood to become Colonels while reminiscing on their time here at FCMS. This is the last cohort of scholars who will have experienced the Ol’ Frederick County Middle/Junior High. Along with all the nostalgia and excitement are several events on June 7th and June 8th I would like to share with you.

Thursday June 7th, 2018
8:45 AM - 6th Grade Awards Ceremony in the Main Gym. Families are invited to attend.

10:30 AM
 - 7th Grade Awards Ceremony in the Main Gym. Families are invited to attend.

1:00 PM - 8th Grade Awards Ceremony in the Main Gym. Families are invited to attend. (8th Grade Parents please park down by the football field so our busses can access the bus loading zone for dismissal) We will also have field day and yearbook distribution on this day.

Friday June 8th, 2018 (Last Day of School)
9:00 AM - 8th Grade Farewell Celebration in the Main Gym

10:30 AM - PTO is sponsoring a reception for all our 8th Graders and their families in the Dining Room

Upon completion of the celebration and reception, scholars may be dismissed with their parents. It is very exciting to see our scholars recognized with their peers for their achievements. Celebrations during the day can be challenging for some of our families, however it does provide the opportunity for all our scholars to participate. Thank you for your continued support of Frederick County Middle School and we hope to see you at the celebration(s).

Warmest Regards,

Jerry Putt, Principal
