Happy December. It is hard to imagine that 2020 is soon coming to an end. I hope that your family is safe and well. I have been so impressed at how well our scholars conduct themselves each and every day at FCMS. My colleagues and our entire staff focus on safety, first and foremost, as we go about the business of educating our middle schoolers. As a school counseling team, we are also focused on the emotional well being and academic success of our scholars. We know that these are challenging times and if your family has elected hybrid or virtual schooling we want to be a resource for you. As I mentioned in the last newsletter, please do not hesitate to contact me or your child's grade level counselor so that we can discuss ways to support your child. We are most fortunate that Ms. Egas, our eighth grade school counselor, is also the school counselor for The Middle School Virtual Academy (MSVA). This allows us to be able to work more effectively for our virtual scholars as the MSVA is a combined faculty from all four FCPS middle schools. If your child is not working to their potential we can discuss strategies to promote academic success. And finally, thank you for doing your part in making sure that your child is at school and is actively participating in their asynchronis and/or virtual studies if they are healthy enough to do so. We are so appreciative of your active involvement in your child's success.

Regards,
Steve Waters
