Scott Lykins

Scott LykinsMy name is Scott Lykins. First, let me say that I feel honored and privileged to be afforded the opportunity to work with such an outstanding educational community. I look forward to working with and learning from the children, parents and staff of Frederick County Middle School.
Prior to coming to Frederick County Middle School, I worked at Warm Springs Middle School in Berkeley Springs, WV. At Warm Springs Middle School I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science as well as AVID. I have an undergraduate degree in Biology and a master's degree in both Elementary Education and Educational Leadership.
Besides education, some of my other interests include athletics, fishing, hiking, camping and staying current with scientific trends. I enjoy all sports, but football and basketball are my favorites. I am an avid fisherman and most weekends you will find me in a local river with my fly or spinning rod, fishing for whatever is biting, or camping with friends and family. I am passionate about science, especially insects. In fact, I often spend hours lost in documentaries or scientific literature.
Family is an important part of who I am. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and two entertaining dogs. My wife, Mariah, is also passionate about education and teaches fifth grade at Warm Springs Intermediate School in Berkeley Springs.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you as we prepare our students to work to their potential, challenge themselves and never settle for anything but their very best.
