Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year
We are on our way to high school! The 8th grade year holds such excitement for students. Eighth grade is all about getting students ready for life after middle school. This involves preparing students for high school by teaching the scholars to become more independent learners with a growth mindset. Students will start to formulate plans and curiosity for post-secondary options. What will I do after high school? College or technical training? What interests do I have? What classes do I need to take to make sure I am prepared and keep my options open?
Look for upcoming information about Career Cruising, Career Cafe and our trip to Lord Fairfax Community College. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you or your child.

My Experience

I earned my master's degree in counseling from West Virginia University. I also maintain National Board Certification in Counseling (NBCC) and my private credential Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have worked in school counseling for the last 15 years at all different grade levels. I have taught as an adjunct professor at WVU and served as a mentor/supervisor for counseling graduate students.
My Core Values and School Counseling Philosophy
  • Children have dignity and worth as human beings
  • Children learn best when they feel good about themselves and their relationships to others
  • Children who understand and can express their feelings are better able to control their behavior
  • Children are capable of making responsible choices
  • Attitudes formed during elementary and middle school shape future attitudes toward learning, self and society
  • Learning Today...Leading Tomorrow shows us a path from where we are to where we want to go
