Coronavirus Update Please Report COVID-19 Cases
Please report all positive cases of COVID-19 involving a student to the school nurse as soon as the case is confirmed. By quickly reporting cases to the school nurse, the required contact tracing can be completed in order to keep all members of the school community healthy and safe. Anyone exhibiting signs of illness, regardless of whether or not they have tested positive for COVID-19, is to stay home. Thank you.

Want to be a cheerleader this fall?

Workouts and tryouts for the 2021-2022 Cheer Year will be held on August 19-20 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the FCMS gym. Anyone wishing to try out must have a sports physical on hand at the SBO BEFORE that date to be allowed to participate. Coaches cannot accept sports physicals the day of work outs.

FCMS is inviting teachers, parents and students to share your most cherished and favorite homemade recipes in the FCMS "In Pursuit of Flavor...and a Cure" charity cookbook. All proceeds collected from the sale of our cookbook will go to Susan G. Komen's DMV Tri-State "More Than Pink Walk" in September, where monies raised will support underprivileged women and men in our area diagnosed with breast cancer.

Vernon J. Bock has been named Frederick County Public Schools’ new Assistant Superintendent for Administration. Bock, who is a James Wood High School graduate, will succeed Dr. Albert Orndorff who is retiring July 1.

School Board Extends Dr. Sovine's Contract Through June 2025

During its meeting on June 15, the Frederick County School Board extended the contract of Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Sovine through June 30, 2025. Dr. Sovine became the Superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools on July 1, 2011.

Summer Meals Program

Frederick County Public Schools is offering a free meals program to school-aged children each Wednesday throughout the summer. From June 16 through August 18, school-aged children can receive a free meal box between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each Wednesday at Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School, Redbud Run Elementary School or Sherando High School.
