Dear Parents and Potential FFA Members,

Membership in W.R. Legge FFA is open to and highly encouraged (but not required) for any student at Frederick County Middle who is enrolled in any of the following classes:

6th grade: Introduction to Agriscience
7th grade: Agriscience Exploration
8th grade: Agriscience Technology

Even if you do not have the class until later in the year, you can still become a member now! The dues for membership are $25 which includes your local, state and national dues fees plus a W.R. Legge FFA t-shirt! This can be paid through the MySchoolBucks online payment system; however, please also make sure to complete the attached membership form and return to Mrs. Anglin as soon as possible.

The National FFA Organization is the largest youth organization in the world with over 653,000 students nationwide. It is an organization full of activities for students enrolled in agriculture education that allows them the opportunity to expand their learning in different ways beyond the classroom all while having fun, developing life-long leadership skills, public speaking skills, citizenship skills, and friendships. As a member of the W.R. Legge FFA Chapter, your student would have the following opportunities available:
  • competitive events
  • leadership conferences
  • community service projects
  • travel
  • recreational activities
These types of activities help students learn responsibility, citizenship, teamwork, communication skills, social skills, and give them a chance to just have fun. Members are not expected to be at every chapter activity or participate in every contest. We understand and encourage students to have other interests and responsibilities as well. FFA is like a huge buffet, students get to pick out what they like. We also encourage our members to be active in sports or other student organizations that interest them. We do not want to monopolize their time.

I am a product of the FFA program, and strongly believe that it is one of the best organizations that students can become involved in. The opportunities that I had and the experiences and memories I gained are priceless. If you have any questions about FFA, please feel free to browse the National FFA Organization website at, the Virginia FFA Association website at, or contact me at 540-888-4296. I can also be reached at the following e-mail address: Thank you for your time and consideration of membership in our program.
